Top Jobs for Top Dogs

In my humble opinion, Consulting and Banking seem to be the main corporate entry points for us, aspirant graduates. From attending the Graduate Careers fair, and visiting the Trinity Careers Advisory Service I have concluded that these are also the most visible (and therefore competitive) prospective employers.

Following this, I have put together some information about the respective recruitment processes which I present below.

In my experience, unless you have an amazing record and good contacts, the recruitment process takes a lot of work. Each application is very time consuming, but you get better at them with experience. Interview experience, in particular, is valuable. It's all a numbers game; every application you submit obviously increases your chances and choices.

I'd highly recommend setting a deadline to submit one of the early applications. This will force you to have your CV and cover letter drafted and (if you're lucky) give you some interview experience, before further opportunities surface later in the year.
